His father had graduated from the University of Texas and was working for General Electric Credit in Puerto Rico. At the age of eight, he moved to Puerto Rico with his father. In order to get the money to buy the things he wanted, his father encouraged him to start a paper route. By the time he was twelve, he had built the biggest paper route in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was featured on the front page of the San Juan Star. He had to sell subscriptions and knock on doors in order to build his business.
Marco shares his experience as a young entrepreneur. When he was 13, he started a newspaper delivery route and became a manager of a team of people who helped deliver the newspapers. After playing football in high school, he ended up selling the route for several hundred dollars. This experience taught him about building a business and having an exit plan. He then went on to receive a football scholarship at Commonwealth High School in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Marco, shares his story how he started out as a bus boy in a Mexican restaurant while still in high school. He later convinced his older brother, mother, and father to open a chain of Mexican restaurants. They ended up selling those restaurants to Taco Bell after five years. He then went on to open a nightclub with a partner before transitioning into the digital marketing space. He emphasizes the importance of learning the ins and outs of a certain industry before launching a business of your own and encourages people to leverage relationships and partnerships to make the most of their time. He also advises that one should never underestimate the value of apprenticeships and volunteering in order to gain the experience and knowledge necessary to succeed.
