The AMP (Al Mega Podcast) – Dominick Domasky

Dominic Domasky is the founder of the inspirational sharing platform Motivation Champs. On the Al Mega podcast, he shares his own entrepreneurial journey and his secrets to success. Dominic is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the local Polish community has had a big influence on him. Growing up in a family business, his father taught him the value of hard work and inspired him to pursue his dreams. He believes in the power of perseverance and determination to reach one’s goals. Through Motivation Champs, Dominic hopes to inspire and motivate others to reach their potential.

Dom is an entrepreneur who recently made the leap to pursue his passion after losing half a million dollars in the restaurant business. He was inspired by an 81 year-old man who still works six days a week, and was reminded of the importance of following his passion. After his financial loss, he had to start from scratch and spent 15 years in the corporate world to support his family. He is now helping people to share their stories around the world. Dom believes that there is never a perfect time to take a leap and follow your dreams, and that life is full of unexpected events. Therefore, it is important to take risks and make plans accordingly.

The speaker had been working for 20 years in pharmaceuticals and insurance sales, but he always wanted to pursue his dreams, so he started building his own business. He did odd jobs at night, such as stunts for movies, and he was offered the chance to work with Netflix, but he had to pass it up. This was the moment he knew he had to take the leap and become an entrepreneur. He had learned from his previous experience to pay off as much debt as possible, so he was in a better position to take risks and survive if things didn’t work out. He was able to take the leap and pursue his dreams.

Highlights

One of my creative friends that we ride bikes. We had road bikes together and hung out together, and he had an opportunity to pitch some programming, and he said, hey, what do you want to do? And we started. We were like, well, let’s go ride bikes. That’ll be great. And then what we realized is, sometimes when you’re riding a bike and this is what I would for anybody, here how this applies. Sometimes if you turn your head and look that way, something amazing is going on, something’s cool.
Well, we’re working on something right now for Chicago later in the year, in person event. But I’ll just drop that in there. So hopefully we can get everybody in one place in Chicago and do a big event and represent a lot of people and get some excitement, give storytellers an opportunity, whether they’re YouTubers, whether they’re authors. Let’s all meet. Let’s get out together. Let’s share some stories. And we’re working on that. And then you mentioned the nonprofit stuff, so 24/7.
We’re trying to turn the quadfather into a screen. We did turn it into a screenplay. Now we’re pitching it around, and what we hope is that somebody sees that the disabled community is a huge community, right. It encompasses black, white, gay, straight. And what we want to do is show them that, here’s a product for you that encompasses all these things. Maybe this community is underserved, underrepresented, underrepresented.. And we’re trying to get that out to the masses.
There’s a line in Gatsby that says, remember, son, not everybody was afforded the same opportunity. And so I’m here sitting, understanding that, like I told I mentioned my dad earlier that worked, that still works six days a week and worked seven days a week back then. Here’s a guy that was a positive role model for me. And my mom was there when I had big teeth that stuck out, or when I used to get beat up at school, or when I spoke like I had much in my mouth that supported me and believed in me.
Yeah, I love that, because when you do that, they definitely are going to think more and put more of themselves into it, just like you did. Because I know that one of your newest books is about unconditional love and your mom was Alzheimer’s. I’m sorry. She’s dealing with that. I mean, talk about that book and you sharing it’s very personal to share that. It takes bravery. So thank you for doing that as well, and talk about how it made you feel in the process of you writing that book.
